Sunday Worship
Every Sunday, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM.
*Note - We are now worshipping in our new space at City Market between Moore Square and Big Eds Restaurant. 214 East Martin Street, Raleigh
We meet every Sunday for worship at 10 am in Cobblestone Hall in the City Market area of downtown Raleigh. There is free parking at the parking deck off of S. Blount St. The entrance to our space is directly across from Big Ed's Restaurant. If you need to grab a cup of coffee or something quick to eat before church we encourage you to visit Benelux cafe.
Children and families are welcome to join us in worship. In addition, we provide Sunday morning nurseries for infants – two year olds, and children’s teaching times for children ages 3 – 9 during the service. All the classes are staffed by trained teachers and leaders who have been through a child-protection background check process.
What's our service like? Our service may be a departure from your traditional Sunday gathering. Bruce Benedict writes music for much of our worship services, taking lyrics from older hymns. You can listen HERE. Style-wise, it is a blend of folk and classical incorporating instruments ranging from banjo and dobro to violins and cello. The service is best described as gospel focused and liturgical--with a balance of music, prayer (read and spoken elements such as creeds, confession of sin, assurance of pardon), Word (scripture and sermon), and Supper. This structure is purposeful and contextual. Purposeful: it teaches us how to approach God. Contextual: we now live in an era in which we don't assume that people just naturally know how to do this--we need the guide that liturgy provides.
Why Communion weekly? One, Jesus commands it--to do this whenever we come together. Two, we need it. It symbolizes the regular way that Christians feed and are fed by Jesus and his gospel grace. Three, it calls us to rejoicing, thanksgiving, repentance, and forsaking our unbelief and fears - sending us out to be God's people on mission in the world.
Finally, dress. Our church is a reflection of an electic downtown aesthetic. Some folks dress to impress while others are in their casual best. We don't need to clean it up for Jesus though. Let him do that.
