Advent Devotional

The days leading up to Christmas are filled with distractions.

We need help to cut through the many distractions of the Christmas season if we want to focus any attention on Jesus. Since the fourth century, the Church has celebrated the season of Advent (which means “coming” or “arrival”) to help focus attention on Jesus.

CTK created two Advent devotionals to help individuals and families think about the great themes of advent. Both devotionals allow you to consider Jesus' coming to earth and through Scripture, reflection on Scripture, prayers for adults and children, and hymns.

Born a Child and yet a King is the newest devotional, telling the story of Jesus from the promise of his birth to the promise of his return. There are six devotions, prayers, and songs—one for each week of Advent, one for Christmas, and one for Epiphany. If you have children, each devotion can be read along with The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones (references included).

For Yonder Breaks a New and Glorious Morn was written last year. It also tells the story of Jesus, from the promise of his birth to the promise of his return. There are eighteen devotions, prayers, and songs. The devotional ends on Christmas day.
