Advent
The days leading up to Christmas are filled with distractions. We need help to cut through the many distractions of the Christmas season if we want focus any attention on Jesus. Since the fourth century, the Church has celebrated the season of Advent (which means “coming” or “arrival”) to help focus attention on Jesus.
During this season of Advent, CTK can help you and your family celebrate Advent in three ways.
Sunday Morning
Our Sunday Morning Worship Services will look at the story of Jesus from the promise of his birth to the promise of his return. As we sing songs traditionally associated with Advent, pray, read and study the Scriptures, and celebrate the Lord's Supper, we will consider the one who was "born thy people to deliver, born a child and yet a king."
We would love to have you join us on Sundays at 10 am in Raleigh. You can find out more information about our services here.
Advent Devotional
We prepared an Advent devotional, Born a Child and yet a King to help both adults and children consider the story of Jesus' birth. The devotional uses familiar Scriptures, hymns, and prayers for both children and adults to help all remember that Jesus is the Savior of the world.
You can download the devotional by clicking here.
You can hear some of the songs that may be unfamiliar by clicking here.
The devotional will follow the sermons preached at CTK during the Advent season. You can listen to the sermons by clicking here.
We also created a longer Advent devotional for all ages titled For Yonder Breaks a New and Glorious Morn. To download that devotional, click here.
Christmas Eve Service
We will hold a modified Service of Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve from 5-6 pm at the Meymandi Theatre at the Murphey School, also known as the Burning Coal Theater (for directions, click here). The service will be a wonderful time to come together as a church family in celebration of the birth of Jesus our Emmanuel, God with us. This is a family service; both adults and children are welcome in the service and encouraged to participate. No child care will be provided.
